Performance analysis of chainsaws

Not only in the motor manual timber harvest smaller internal combustion engines are used to drive tools. In particular, when workers work with such equipment throughout the day, the performance characteristics (given weight) and the amount and composition of the exhaust gases are of considerable importance in assessing a working procedure. For this purpose, the department has a dynamometer for small engines, which differs significantly from the usual (larger) engine test benches. Due to very low flyweights and thus moments of inertia even small fluctuations in the engine speed are possible. The time-parallel exhaust gas analysis offers the possibility of comparing different engine concepts as well as the differentiation of different fuels. In addition to conventional 2- and 4-stroke engines but also electric drives can be measured on the test bench or subjected to a standardized load cycle.
