Stud.IP enrolment process

Limit access to a course to a maximum number of participants

If you want to limit access to your course in Stud.IP to a maximum number, go to the course and, under Administration, click on Access permissions. This lists the enrolment procedures none, lottery, chronological and locked. Choose by lots or chronological; then you can input a maximum number of participants and save it.

If you use the chronological procedure, places are awarded in the order that enrolments are received. Later enrolments are entered on a waiting list.

If you use a lottery, the enrolments are treated equally regardless of the time of enrolment. The available places are allocated among all enrolments by random draw at a time you choose.

Restricting access to a degree programme (study area and degree)

If you want to limit access to your course in Stud.IP to a specific degree programme, go to the course and, under Administration, click on Access permissions. Then under “Registration procedure” choose by lots or chronological; after that, if necessary you can set a maximum number of participants and under course of study select one or more degree courses. Save the data with apply.

Grouping courses for an enrolment

For example, if you offer several tutorials relating to a lecture, you can have the tutorials put in groups by the Stud.IP administrators for your institution. Each student can then only enrol for one tutorial.

There is a list of Stud.IP administrators here.

Provisional enrolment

If you only want to admit students to the course who are also in attendance on the course dates, activate provisional enrolment. You can find the option Provisional entry in the course administration under Access permissions. If you activate provisional enrolment, then after the first attended meeting you can determine which participants you finally wish to allow access to your course. You can activate provisional enrolment for all enrolment procedures (none, chronological, lottery).

Student user ID necessary for active enrolment procedure

As soon as an enrolment procedure is activated, only students with a student user ID can enrol for the course.

You can find information on student user ID here.
