Expertise from the RESPOND research team in Göttingen: Hotspot camps as blueprint for the reform of GEAS?

Policy Impact Assessment of the Hotspot Approach in Greece

Valeria Hänsel and Bernd Kasparek (collaborators in the RESPOND research project) have been commissioned by the Migration Council to study the hotspot approach presented by the European Commission in 2015 and its implementation in Greece in the following years, and to analyse it in view of the upcoming reform of the Common European Asylum System (CEAS).

Building on this expertise, the Council on Migration has dealt with the proposals for reform of the CEAS which the Federal Government intends to push forward within the framework of the German EU Council Presidency.
