First impressions of the excursion to Berlin 2025
From May 14 to 16, 2025, the annual excursion “Arbeitsmarkt Berlin. Occupational fields on site” of the Bachelor's programme in Social Sciences to Berlin took place again. 98 students set off under the direction of Dr. Paul Christensen. Five out of 30 potential employers were selected and visited, providing insights into different working environments. From NGOs to the Bundestag and federal authorities to the private sector, they were able to make initial contacts. mehr...

Appointment to the Scientific Advisory Board
The Social Science Institute (SI) of the Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD) has appointed Prof. Dr. Andreas Busch to the Scientific Advisory Board. The SI is a dependent institution of the EKD and an important competence center for protestant social ethics, studies on social and economic policy issues as well as church and religious sociological research projects. Resolutely countering attacks on the freedom of research and teaching
The Faculty Council of the Faculty of Social Sciences fully supports the resolution „Angriffen auf die Freiheit von Forschung und Lehre entschlossen entgegentreten“ (Resolutely countering attacks on the freedom of research and teaching) by the Gender Studies Association. The Faculty of Social Sciences thus emphasizes that the autonomy of science and universities is of crucial importance for the democratic system. Research and teaching must not be instrumentalized for political purposes.

Dissertation and habilitation dates
