Legal form, construction and managing comittee

The IfR was founded in 1984 under the name 'Verein zur Förderung der Regionalforschung e.V' and registered as a nonprofit association at the district court of Goettingen. In 1992 the name was changed into 'Institut für Regionalforschung e.V.' (IfR).

Since 1995 a cooperative agreement exists between the IfR and the University of Goettingen. Today the IfR is officially recognised as one of four institutes 'at the University of Goettingen'. From this cooperative agreement result a row of mutual duties.

Base of the institute is the general meeting to which the conveyor members and the active members (normally the employees) count. Among other things, the general meeting has to elect the managing comittee.

Actually, members of the managing comittee are:
