Jens Scheiner was Junior Professor and Leader of the Junior Research Group “Revelation, Reason, and Identity: Education in Early and Classical Islam (from the seventh to the thirteenth century CE)”.

2004 he gained his university degree (Magister Artium) from the University of Tübingen, Germany, where Jens Scheiner studied Islamic Studies, Social- and Economic History and Public Law.

Jens Scheiner received his PhD from Radboud Universiteit Nijmegen, The Netherlands, writing an source-analytical study on the Islamic conquest of Damascus.

Between 2008 and 2010 he was Lecturer and Research Assistant at the Institut for Islamic Studies at the Free University of Berlin.
Jens Scheinerʼs focus of research lies on the history and culture of the Middle East from Late Antiquity to classical Islamic times.

Apart from holding regular presentations on topics like “Islam in History and Present”, “Education in the Islamic world” or “The Presentation of Islam in American movies” Jens Scheiner teaches various courses on different aspects of the Islamic culture.
