The programme “Wie[so] promovieren?"

The Graduiertenschule für Geisteswissenschaften seeks to improve conditions for doctoral work in the humanities at the University of Göttingen. Doctoral candidates therefore constitute the prime target group for our measures and structures.

For the quality of a doctoral dissertation, its conceptual design, and ultimately also its success, determining at an early stage the goal pursued by the project, the motivation on which it is based, and the conditions that need to be met are significant factors – as is awareness of the support offered by the University of Göttingen for doctoral students in the humanities.

The series of events entitled “Wie(so) promovieren?” is hence aimed not at the School’s members - the doctoral students of our two founding Faculties, but at those pursuing degree studies in the humanities who are considering whether doctoral studies would be an attractive option in their career and life planning.
