Graduates of the winter semester bid farewell with ceremony

Best of the year are awarded the "Florenz Sartorius Prize" in the university auditorium


With an academic ceremony on Friday, 29 July 2022, the Faculty of Business and Economics at Göttingen University bid farewell to its graduates of the winter semester 2021/ 2022. A total of 364 students graduated in the past winter semester. 217 of them completed a Bachelor's programme, 147 a Master's programme. 33 doctoral students successfully completed their doctorates during the past year.

Dean of Studies Prof. Dr. Stefan Dierkes welcomed the guests. Lena-Sophie Tilk spoke as a representative of the graduates of the winter semester. Joachim Haag also spoke as an alumnus of the faculty. He is the managing director of isi - Institut für Sensorikforschung und Innovationsberatung GmbH from Göttingen. The company is one of the world's leading agencies for sensory marketing and sensory market research.

The "Florenz Sartorius Prizes" donated by Sartorius AG in Göttingen were also awarded during the event. The best graduates of the individual disciplines received a prize. The faculty honoured Tim Altkemper (Master of Science in Finance, Accounting and Taxes), Marah-Lisanne Thormann (Master of Science in Applied Statistics), Alina Lippold (Master of Education in Business and Human Resource Education) and Denise Kupfer (Master of Science in Business Information Systems) for their outstanding academic achievements.

In addition, once a year the faculty awards outstanding dissertations in business administration and economics with the "Florenz Sartorius Prize", each endowed with 1,000 euros. For his outstanding doctorate on the topic of "Firm Risk and Ambiguity: The Role of Management and the Board", the Faculty awards the prize in the subject of business administration to Dr. Sebastian Trabert. The first reviewer was Prof. Dr. Olaf Korn from the Chair of Finance. In Economics, Dr. Raphael Brade was awarded for his doctoral thesis "Behavioral Interventions and Students' Success at University - Evidence from Randomised Field Experiments". The work was reviewed by Prof. Dr. Robert Schwager from the Chair of Finance.
