Prof. Dr. Ernst A. Wimmer

Preface

The research in the department of developmental biology covers a variety of developmental processes (e.g. head development, segmentation, germ cell differentiation), their molecular basis, and their evolutionary conservation or diversification. In addition, novel approaches to insect pest management are developed using developmental genes and molecular biology tools. The animal model systems used at the department include a series of arthropods (insects, crustaceans) as well as mouse.
