Dr. Yvonne Franke
Dr. Yvonne Franke is Acting Professor for the Sociology of Diversity since 26 August 2020.
Dr. Yvonne Franke is a political scientist who earned her doctorate at the Otto-Suhr Institute at Freie Universität Berlin. Her thesis, a grounded theory study, dealt with questions of power and rule/authority/domination using the example of the dairy chain in Argentina. Before joining the Diversity Research Institute, she worked as a lecturer and research associate at the Otto-von-Guericke-University Magdeburg.
Dr. Yvonne Franke was the academic coordinator of the project "Diversity Turn in Land Use Science: The importance of social diversity for sustainable development - the case of vanilla farming in Madagascar" at the Diversity Research Institute from 2016 to 2020.
Her main research interests are:
- Development Theory and Politics (especially feminist/postcolonial approaches)
- Agricultural Value Chains and Food System Analysis
- Political Theory (intersectionality/power relations)
- Qualitative Research Methods
