Recycle MDF

Recycling of production rejects from MDF board production for fibre recovery

The aim of the project is to develop a process for recycling production rejects from fibreboard production for fibre recovery. In this subproject, a process is first developed in which the most common binders of fibreboards are hydrolytically split in order to dissolve the composite board. The fibres obtained after treatment by Reinartz are then characterized morphologically and chemically (nitrogen content) and the used hydrolysis water analyzed. In order to evaluate the use of recycled fibres, new fibre boards are produced with the addition of different proportions of recycled fibres. In addition, wood-polymer composites are produced from the fibres and tested for their properties. A feasibility study is to be carried out on the basis of the received and literature data.
