Teaching

Teaching of the section comprises a broad spectrum of crop production / crop protection related subdisciplines. Basical lectures on crop protection are offered forming the foundation of more specialized modules. Integrated Crop Protection is of major importance in a diverse range of modules. Aspects of soil tillage, fertilization, crop rotation and cultivar choice are intensly discussed as major measures to prevent and/or avoid plant disorders. Direct measures to combat plant diseases and pests as biological control, mechanical and thermal weed control, chemical plant protection under consideration of decission support systems are discussed with the main goal to " use as little as possible - as much as needed - in a very targeted way".

The sub-disciplines Mycology, Herbology, Bacteriology, (molecular) Diagnostics and Pharmacology are also teached. Further sub-disciplines (Entomology, Nematology, Plant Virology, Ecotoxicology) are presented by other lecturers of the department or by guest lecturers. A complete listing of Crop Health relevant modules can be opened by clicking the link to your left. Further details of the individual modules are available by websites which can be opened by clicking the hyperlinks which are set on the names of the respective modules.

By taking various modules from our field, the "Sachkundenachweis Pflanzenschutz" can be acquired. See the following web page Sachkunde Pflanzenschutz.
