Technology-Enabled Lecture Halls & Rooms

The University of Göttingen has begun a programme to modernise the presentation equipment in its lecture halls. The objective of the programme is to offer teachers the opportunity to augment their classroom teaching and to make it more interactive. Since the 2011 winter semester, increasing numbers of lecture halls are being completely equipped with new media technology.

The basic principles of operation have been kept simple. Nonetheless, the levels of media technology equipment sometimes differ from one room to the other. The differences are categorised under media technology equipment types. A description of these MT types and the instruction dates for WiSe 19/20 can be found in the table below.

The University of Göttingen has launched a programme to renew the presentation technology in its lecture rooms. The aim of the programme is to offer lecturers the opportunity to enhance their classroom teaching with media and to provide greater interactivity.

For the winter semester 2011 the lecture rooms in the Central Lecture Building (ZHG) have been fully equipped with new media technology. All lecture rooms are now equipped with a central HD projector. A notebook can easily be connected up via a connector panel on the console. An inbuilt PC is also available. A GWDG ID or UG student ID can be used to login. The computers are installed with recording software. All rooms will also be fitted with a SMART pen-controlled display by the end of the semester. This enables annotations and comments to be written directly on the screen and for example stored together with a PowerPoint presentation.

A lot of care has been taken to ensure that the system is easy to use, despite the complexity of the technology. Nevertheless, you are not left alone to cope with the technology. You can use the links on the side to get more information for your lecture room. In addition the e-learning service offers a regular session every Monday at 13:00 in Central Lecture Building (ZHG) lecture room 105, to introduce the many possibilities of the technology and help you make use of its potential.
