Energy-efficient production of complex-shaped, multifunctional and recyclable lightweight products made of wood and bioplastics using automatic injection-moulding machines

Hybrid lightweight construction materials made from renewable raw materials are becoming increasingly important. They can be used to manufacture resource- and climate-friendly products that fulfil several functions - for example, load-bearing construction products with integrated thermal and sound insulation properties, as well as upholstered furniture and packaging. Efficient component geometries enable high weight savings without losing mechanical stability. Together with research and industry partners, we are developing a process for the production of complex-shaped products made of wood or agricultural materials and bioplastics using automatic injection-moulding machines. An important component of material and technology development is also to ensure that the products can be recycled to the highest possible quality after their first use.
