Incoming Students




Please note: The selection process is managed by your home University. You cannot apply directly for an exchange semester at our faculty. Unfortunately, applications from free movers cannot be accepted.

The International Office at the University of Göttingen (Göttingen International) and the study abroad coordinator at the Faculty of Business and Economics receive nominations of selected applicants from partner universities. Successful applicants will receive information on how to enroll as an exchange student at the University of Göttingen by the International Office.

The faculty offers a structured Ph.D. program. Before starting the application process, however, potential doctoral students are first required to identify a supervisor for their thesis.

To fund themselves, doctoral candidates can for example work as research associates at one of the faculty's chairs or in a third-party-funded research group or research project. Consequently, you would have to apply for according job offers.

Writing a thesis while working and funding yourself independently is also possible. There are no university-based scholarships, but there are many grants that one could apply for, such as the German Academic Exchange Service.
