Project Group A - Environmental processes

All scientific projects (SP) of Project Group A are complementary as they address different temporal and spatial scales (see figure). During Phase 1, the SPs evaluated how land transformations in the Jambi region affected environmental processes in soil, water and atmosphere (see Publications).
In Phase 2 a stronger focus will be on temporal and spatial heterogeneity and variability of these environmental processes. Apart from the spatial heterogeneity within plots, between plots and between landscapes, Project Group A will complement the studies on landscape heterogeneity by conducting measurement on the new core plots in riparian areas (see Science). Observations on temporal variability will be extended by repeating some of the measurements conducted during Phase 1 to assess inter-annual variability.
